Treatment of rosacea skin
Effective treatment of rosacea requires patience, the process can take a long time!
What is rosacea?
Rosacea is a vascular skin disorder that most commonly affects the forehead, nose, chin and cheeks, and the severity of the symptoms that appear from time to time can be influenced by external factors, hormonal changes, certain medications, the use of cosmetics that are not suitable for the skin, and the consumption of certain foods and drinks.
Who is affected by rosacea?
According to a previous study, 10% of the population is affected by this skin condition, though there are geographical variations, and age and gender also influence susceptibility to symptoms. In most cases, the condition first appears in people in their thirties or forties, but in some instances, symptoms may develop even earlier.
Types and symptoms of rosacea
Stage 1: permanent redness (rosacea erythematosa-teleangiectatica)
In many cases, facial blushing appears simultaneously on the forehead, nose, chin and cheeks, and may be persistent or intermittent. Initially, it appears in small patches, but later these patches may converge to form a larger area of redness. If this unpleasant symptom is accompanied by inflammation, it is called rosacea erythematosa-teleangiectatic. At this stage, people also report a burning, stinging sensation, itching or dry skin. In rarer cases, there may also be reddening around the eye or swelling of the eye itself.
2. Stage 2: pustules (Rosacea papulopustulosa)
In addition to the already established inflamed blood vessels, inflammatory lesions can also be seen around the parathyroid glands. These appear as bumps on the skin, which must not be removed by pressing. Their treatment requires the right active ingredients for the skin and the right expertise! These acne-like bumps are often mistaken for acne!
3. Stage 3: swelling of the skin
Hypertrophic: characterized by tissue hyperpigmentation and redness, dilated pores, capillaries and sore nodules on the skin surface. Inflammation causes the skin to thicken in the affected areas.
The symptoms of rhinophyma are concentrated in the nose, causing the nose to become distorted and enlarged. Rhinophyma is caused by an overgrowth of the parotid glands and connective tissue of the nose.
